Planning as a guest
You can plan a trip without an account. The places, dates, and preferences you enter are sent to our servers to build your route, itinerary, and budget, and the result is kept in your open browser tab. The home planner doesn't save it to our database.
If you create an account
When you sign up, we store:
- Your name, username, email address, and phone number
- Your postal address
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash (bcrypt), never in readable form
- What you choose to save: trips, saved places, vehicle profiles, planner preferences, budgets, and bookings or notes you add
- Anything you post publicly in the community, such as posts and comments
We use your email address to send a verification link when you sign up. We don't send marketing email.
Cookies
We use three first-party cookies and no advertising or analytics cookies:
- rb_session: keeps you signed in (up to 30 days).
- rb_uid: identifies a guest session so you can use the planner without an account (up to 1 year).
- rb-theme: remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.
Services that receive data
To plan a trip we have to ask mapping services about the places in it. These providers receive the data described below and handle it under their own privacy policies.
- Google Maps Platform (Maps, Places, Routes, Geocoding): the locations and searches you enter, to find places, build routes, and calculate drive times. The interactive map loads from Google in your browser, so Google also sees your IP address and browser details.
- OpenStreetMap services (map tiles, Nominatim, Photon, Overpass, OSRM, and Valhalla): used as a fallback when Google is unavailable, receiving the same kind of location queries. This fallback map also loads its marker icons from the unpkg CDN.
- Google Gemini: only if you use “import from a link” in Saved Places. The text of the page you link to is sent to Gemini to pick out the places it mentions.
- Unsplash: some fallback photos load from Unsplash, which sees your IP address when your browser fetches them.
- Resend: delivers account verification emails, so it receives your email address.
- Vercel hosts the site and Supabase hosts our database. They process requests and stored account data on our behalf.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no ad or analytics trackers
- We don't sell or rent your personal data
- We don't read your device location; we only use places you type in
Your choices
You can plan without an account at all. If you have one, you can edit your saved trips and places at any time. To get a copy of your data or have your account deleted, contact us at the contact address we will publish on this page before general launch.
